You are trained to perform surgical procedures to heal wounds.

Prerequisite: Heal 4 ranks.

Benefit: You can use the heal skill to perform surgery.

Treat Deadly Wounds (Heal DC 20): With a surgery kit you can conduct field surgery to heal damage. This requires 1d4 hours; if the patient is at negative hit points, add an additional hour for every hit point below 0 the patient has fallen. A successful check heals the patient 1d6 HP per character level of the patient (up to the character's normal total). For every 10 points by which you beat the DC add an additional 1d6 HP per character level of the patient healed. Treat Deadly Wounds can only be performed successfully once on a character in a 24 hour period. A character who undergoes this surgery is exhausted for 24 hours minus 2 hours for every point above the DC the surgeon achieves. The period of exhaustion can never be reduced below 6 hours in this fashion.

Treat Damaged Organs (Heal DC 30): With a surgery kit you can conduct field surgery to heal a damaged organ. This requires 1d8 hours; if the patient is at negative hit points, add an additional hour for every hit point below 0 the patient has fallen. A successful check heals the damaged organ and 1d3 physical ability damage of the surgeons choice. For every 10 points by which you beat the DC add an additional 1 point of ability damage healed. Treat Damaged Organs can only be performed successfully once on a character in a 24 hour period. A character who undergoes this surgery is exhausted for 7 days minus 1 day for every 10 points above the DC the surgeon achieves. The period of exhaustion can never be reduced below 1 day in this fashion.

Reattach Severed Body Part (Heal DC 40): With a surgery kit you can conduct field surgery to reattach a severed body part as long as the part is mostly intact and hasn't been severed for more than an hour (freezing the limb or using Gentle Repose will increase this duration). This requires 1d12 hours; if the patient is at negative hit points, add an additional hour for every hit point below 0 the patient has fallen. A successful check reattaches one severed limb and heals 1d2 physicall Ability Drain caused by the injury. For every 10 points by which you beat the DC add an additional body part reattached and 1 point of ability drain healed. Reattaching severed body parts can only be performed successfully once on a character in a 24 hour period. A character who undergoes this surgery is exhausted for 7 weeks minus week for every 10 points above the DC the surgeon achieves. The period of exhaustion can never be reduced below 1 week in this fashion.

Repair Damaged Brain or Face (Heal DC 45): With a surgery kit you can conduct field surgery to repair some brain damage and facial damage. This requires 3d8 hours; if the patient is at negative hit points, add an additional hour for every hit point below 0 the patient has fallen. A successful check heals 1d3 Mental Ability Damage or Drain and heals any facial trauma or scarring the patient might have. For every 10 points by which you beat the DC add an additional 1 point of Mental Ability damage or Drain Healed. Repairing Brain Damage or Face can only be performed successfully once on a character in a 24 hour period. A character who undergoes this surgery is exhausted for 7 weeks minus week for every 10 points above the DC the surgeon achieves. The period of exhaustion can never be reduced below 1 week in this fashion.

Resuscitation (Heal DC 50): With a surgery kit you can conduct field surgery to save a life from the clutches of death. This can be performed within 1 minuter per characters Constitution modifier from the characters death (This can be prolonged by freezing the body or casting Gentle Repose within that timeframe, which prolonges it to hours per constitution modifier from the characters death). If successful the character is brought back to life at -1 hit points and with a permenant 3 negative levels. For every 10 points by which you beat the DC reduce the negative levels incured by one. Resuscitation can only be performed successfully once for obvious reasons. A character who undergoes this surgery is exhausted for 3 months minus week for every 10 points above the DC the surgeon achieves. The period of exhaustion can never be reduced below 1 month in this fashion.
